The Company's Coming Legacy
Jean Paré grew up with an understanding that family, friends and home cooking are the key ingredients for a good life. A busy mother of four, Jean developed a knack for creating quick and easy recipes using everyday ingredients. For 18 years, she operated a successful catering business from her home kitchen in the small prairie town of Vermilion, Alberta, Canada.
During that time, she earned a reputation for great food, courteous service and reasonable prices. Steadily increasing demand for her recipes led to the founding of Company’s Coming Publishing Limited in 1981.
The first Company’s Coming cookbook, 150 Delicious Squares, was an immediate bestseller. As more titles were introduced, the company quickly earned the distinction of publishing Canada’s most popular cookbooks. Company’s Coming continues to gain new supporters in Canada, the United States and throughout the world by adhering to Jean’s Golden Rule of Cooking: Never share a recipe you wouldn’t use yourself. It’s an approach that has worked—millions of times over!
A familiar and trusted name in the kitchen, Company’s Coming has extended its reach throughout the home with other types of books and products for everyday living.

Though humble about her achievements, Jean Paré is one of North America’s most loved and recognized authors.
The recipient of many awards, Jean was appointed Member of the Order of Canada, her country’s highest lifetime achievement honour.
Today, Jean Paré’s influence as founding author, mentor and moral compass is evident in all aspects of the company she founded. Every recipe created and every product produced upholds the family values and work ethic she instilled. Readers the world over will continue to be encouraged and inspired by her legacy for generations to come.

The Next Chapter:
Company's Coming Kitchen Parties!
There’s nothing better than connecting with our readers. After all, that’s the only way we can tell if we’re on the right track with the recipes we publish and the way they are presented.
A challenge we face, however, is that unless a reader chooses to contact us, we don’t know who they are or how to reach them. That makes it hard to know if we’re meeting expectations. The introduction of Kitchen Parties changes that. Every party offers us the opportunity to learn from new and established readers alike. In return, we offer great value on the broadest possible selection of Company’s Coming books.
A typical Kitchen Party begins with the coordinator locating the host. The host then invites 8–12 friends and family to join in a couple of hours of fun and conversation around their kitchen or dining room table. Refreshments are served, ranging from soft drinks and coffee to wine, along with one or more dishes prepared by the host from Company’s Coming recipes.
Once everyone has gathered, the Kitchen Parties Coordinator distributes catalogues and order forms, then gives a 30–40 minute presentation. She/he tells a bit of the Company’s Coming story, then explains the unique features of each series while passing around sample books for everyone to see.
Following the presentation, guests complete their order forms and return them to the coordinator. The coordinator checks them over, accepts payment from the guests, then submits the orders to Company’s Coming for fulfilment.
Party orders are shipped to the host for distribution to guests or, for a small extra charge, guests can have their orders delivered directly to their homes. Delivery is usually received within 15 business days.
Some of the best times we enjoy with family and friends happen around the kitchen or dining room table. It is our hope that Kitchen Parties will encourage more good times. We look forward to sharing the experience with as many Canadians as possible, one party at a time.
